    We are currently recruiting on behalf of our well established manufacturing client for an IT Applications Developer. The client is looking for a confident individual with excellent communication skills, looking to progress their IT career.

    Role purpose:

    To create or modify source code in order to provide high quality software products, playing an active role in all aspects of the Software Development Lifestyle.


    • Responsible for all aspects of the Service Transition element of the ITIL Lifecycle; Transition Planning & Support, Evaluation, Service Validation & Testing, Knowledge Management, Change Management, Release & Deployment Management and Service Asset & Configuration Management.
    • Responsible for delivery of major change initiatives by employing Lean, best practice change methodologies, risk & issue management and resource planning for IT
    • Develop and maintain portfolio plans for all IT Change, including: prioritisation, resource, risk and issues
    • Ensure that the IT Roadmap, as defined within the IT strategy, is properly translated into tangible change projects
    • Introduce and embed consistent software development practices across the IT organisation
    • Adopt a rigorous approach to system and user acceptance testing (UAT), maintaining the current levels of confidence regarding software quality
    • Ensure high quality systems developments are delivered in a consistent manner to the IT Service function
    • Work closely with other business functions to ensure business requirements analysis is properly delivered through functional changes within development i.e. delivering functionality back to a business requirement


    • Ensure software is developed using methodologies put in place by the IT Manager
    • Create easily understandable documentation for all source code
    • Deliver code which is tested and consistently error free
    • Work with IT test team to evaluate, identify and correct software defects
    • Primarily work on and deliver changes to a manufacturing industry specific suite of software applications and services
    • Ensure source code version control is used effectively
    • Commitment to deliver to project deadlines

    Skills, Knowledge & Aptitude

    • Have an analytical and practical approach to work
    • Ability and proactive willingness to travel to other sites where practicable
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues, customers and suppliers at all levels.
    • Is a confident and self-motivated team player with the ability to work to deadlines.
    • Ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.
    • Uses a methodical and logical approach to problem diagnosis and resolution.
    • Has working knowledge of software development principles, practices, techniques and tools
    • Has partaken in all phases of development project lifecycle, in line with a developer’s role.
    • Has worked within a waterfall and an agile development methodology working environment
    • Has a track record of delivering software developments start to finish, to a high quality
    • Able to play key roles within sizeable business critical projects
    • Possesses a broad and strong overall SQL Server skillset
    • Reporting Services (SSRS) and Integration Services (SSIS) mastery
    • Possesses a broad and strong overall .NET development skills
