Job Description: IAG & Careers Adviser/North West-Manchester Area

Reporting to: Head of Operations

We are on the lookout for an IAG & Careers Adviser to join their team and provide excellent careers information, advice and guidance on adult learning and help spread the word about their provision in the local community.

We are working closely with our Client, a leading and established Adult Education provider to find their next great addition to their team in the North West. This role will require the ability to operate between 2 sites in the North West /Manchester Area.

This is an exciting opportunity, the IAG & Careers Adviser is accountable for providing first-class careers information, advice and guidance to adults with a range of communication methods and styles to suit the individual’s needs.

You will take the lead on the proactive engagement and maintenance of local partnerships, with a view to positioning our Client as a preferred employment and skills delivery partner. Furthermore, they will also create links with local employers to source progression opportunities for learners (e.g. voluntary and paid work). This will be achieved by working closely and flexibility with other members of the wider team to promote the services offered by themselves and their partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Summary

  • The candidate need to have a passion for supporting individuals of all walks of life to progress
  • Ideally you will need to have a minimum level 2 IAG qualification (or above)
  • Have experience of supporting 19+ learners
  • Understand the need to progress an individual to a course / programme that is right for them
  • Be able to network effectively
  • Be IT literate – experience of using a CRM would be advantageous
  • Have an understanding of the local area and it’s needs / job vacancy situation
  • Plan and facilitate CIAG sessions with an approach that enables equality of access for all.

Key Qualities and Attributes:

• Understanding of 19+ funding regulations

• Understanding of Quality standards, including Ofsted inspection framework

• Understanding of Career Development Institute

• Proven experience of delivering first-class Careers Information, Advice and Guidance

• Experience of partnership working and using CRMS to record and track these

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Effective customer service and support

• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

• Health and Safety knowledge & experience

• Equality and Diversity knowledge and experience

• Safeguarding and Prevent knowledge and experience

• Solid understanding of Data Protection regulations

Qualifications Requirements:

• L3 Information, Advice and Guidance Qualification (minimum)

• L2 English and maths qualification (minimum)

• L2 ICT qualification (minimum)

• Safeguarding Essentials

• Data Protection (GDPR) Essentials

• Health and Safety Essentials

• First Aid Awareness

• Equality and Diversity Essentials
